![]() "I'm a big Beatles fan and I love VOX stuff and I'll drive over to you place at any time with the cash and it would mean soooo much to me if you could call me back and blah blah blah blah".(I'm a dork). ![]() I saw the craigslist ad and left the guy a voice mail where I must have sounded like a desperate child. The guy only had the head because he broke the set. With a mere press of this switch, you can go from a crystal-clear, clean sound to Voxs uniquely warm distortion. The clean/overdrive switch allows you to change instantly between clean and dirty sounds. We order it from the manufacturer as soon as you order from us. 15 Watt, 1 x 10' mini stack w/Reverb, Tremolo What Does 'Special Order' Mean A special-order product is one that we dont normally keep in stock. ![]() They made a head with either a 2 x 12 cab or a 4 x 8 cab and they sold about 700 of these through guitar shops. The Pathfinder 10s powerful yet always tone-filled 10-watt output makes this amp perfect for home practice, backstage warm-up, and recording. The Pathfinder 15 SMR also boasts classic VOX styling with diamond grillcloth, basket-weave vinyl, and pointer style control knobs. One of the heads came up on craigslist about three years ago. I bought a new 15R combo 4 years ago and I still have it. I'm older, traditional and I just want to buy my kid an old school "amp". There are so many goofy amps with 20 blinking lights and 32 amp models and I just shake my head. The Pathfinder 15R and the little 25watt Fender Frontman are the only two amps that I can think of that cost about $100 and have only traditional knobs and settings. There are so many modeling amps out there now. It seems to me that so many companies are missing the "plain amplifier" market. You'll need new thermal paste.I'm glad that you like it.I'm sure you'll like it even more at Christmas. These may be reusable if you clean them up. Vox Pathfinder 15R Mods Post by straightblues » Tue. I would however like to put a serious reverb tank in there so the amp could be used to as a spring reverb unit for home recordings using the line out. I think these mods are more an excuse to tinker than any potential sea change improvement. I'd like to tame a little crispiness in the treble freqs and tighten the bass. But it seems a little TOO full-frequency. I did the LED mod last year and was happy with the increased clean (er) output. You can see the insulating mica sheet and shoulder washer in your picture. Ive more or less settled on the Jensen C8R. 1 dinomike77 Tele-Meister Joined Posts 370 I recently dragged my Pathfinder 15R outta the closet. The metal tab needs to be insulated from the aluminum part. One more thing: Make sure you mount the new power amp chip properly. If they drop ~0.6V when forward biased, they're probably fine.Įverything else in the circuit comes after the regulators, so as long as the zeners didn't fail open everything else should be fine. The fuse probably blew before they got too hot, but you can test these with a multimeter. 1 I have a Vox Pathfinder 15R (Model V9168R) that recently stopped working. ZD1 and ZD2 are used as shunt regulators. You can replace them if you want they're very inexpensive. They're rated for 100V and are just there for protection.Ĭ24 and C25 are probably fine. It might be worth the extra couple dollars to replace them just in case though.ĭ2 and D3 are fine. If you don't see any indication of failure, they're probably fine. If you put too much voltage across an electrolytic cap, it will often leak (or explode). The TDA2030A has an absolute maximum supply voltage rating of ☒5V and you (theoretically) fed it ±46V. You would have exceeded their voltage rating with your 230V mistake, but they may have been protected somewhat from the overvoltage when IC4 failed.
